Vision of the Youth Forum
A continent where young people reclaim, transform, and re-center African knowledge systems, values, and innovations in addressing contemporary challenges, sustaining and innovating African indigenous knowledge for inclusive development, cultural identity, and ecological harmony.
The youth forum will mobilize 20,000 Indigenous young women and men across Africa to co-create indigenous knowledge-led entrepreneurship and foster access to dignified jobs through working with researchers in AIKRN. It will provide a platform for identifying Indigenous youths who will be mentored to advance knowledge production and mobilization on indigenous knowledge in Africa, as well as apply African indigenous knowledge to establish their enterprises.
Mission of the Youth Forum
To mobilize, empower, and engage African youth in the preservation, revitalization and advancement of indigenous knowledge systems through research, innovation, advocacy and intergenerational dialogue.
Objectives
To promote youth-led research on indigenous knowledge, practices and systems across African communities.
To serve as a bridge between experienced researchers, elders, policy makers and youth to foster intergenerational knowledge exchange.
To support innovation and entrepreneurship that draws from indigenous wisdom to address contemporary challenges.
To strengthen regional and continental collaboration among youth passionate about indigenous knowledge and cultural heritage.
